Round the Mountain Southwest Virginia's Artisan Network is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote sustainable economic development of the region's communities by assisting local artisans with marketing, educational, and entrepreneurial opportunities. Visitors to the `Round the Mountain website will easily experience the diversity of the region's craft culture through interactive features of the `Round the Mountain Regional Artisan Trail Network, a network of driving trails connects visitors to artisan studios, galleries, agritourism businesses and creative points of interest throughout southwest Virginia.

Crooked Road  Virginia’s Music Heritage Trail began as an idea in January 2003 to generate tourism and economic development in the Appalachian region of SW Virginia by focusing on the region’s unique musical heritage. The Crooked Road includes ten counties and offers a large number of music venues.

Historic 1908 Courthouse  The Historic 1908 Courthouse, an architectural gem, in Independence, Virginia serves as the Art & Cultural center of Grayson County. The restored Richardson style building has been restored and now houses the Baldwin Auditorium, the Grayson Crossroads Museum and The Treasury, a retail art & craft shop.

Rex Theatre  The Rex hosts old time and bluegrass music on stage at Blue Ridge Backroads Live Radio Show every Friday night pm and many other concerts and events.

Chestnut Creek School of the Arts

Matthews Living History Farm Museum  A 21 acre working farm including barns, a workshop, farm house, spring house, circa 1850 log cabin, and a pavilion with bathrooms & working fireplace that offers 3 annual heritage events showcasing area artisans and their wares.

Highland Camerata  The Highland Camerata is an outstanding classical chorus nestled in the mountains near the New River with our singers and audiences coming  from both Virginia and North Carolina.

Mountain Homespun Fiber Guild  The Fiber Guild meets in alternating locations throughout Independence, Sparta & Elkin on the second Tuesday of each month. The mission of the guild is to preserve heritage crafts such as weaving, spinning and natural dyeing through education, demonstration and exhibition.

Old Town Pottery  The Co-Op located at 110 East Oldtown Street, Galax, Virginia, operates as a program of the Chestnut Creek School of the Arts.  OTP provides space for creativity with clay supporting, promoting and developing the highest level of the ceramic arts for the community and its artisans by creating awareness, education and involvement. A regularly changing Gallery of local students, artists and professionals work will be created as well as exhibiting shows of various media for all ages. OTP will promote pottery and ceramic classes for Chestnut Creek School of the Arts in the Co-Op with classes for adults and children, beginners to experienced artists.
